About us
About BASF Battery Materials
We aim to be the preferred global CAM supplier to enable electromobility transformation
As a global CAM supplier, we have a strong commitment to supporting our offerings through recycling.
In addition to providing a leading and broad product portfolio, we also emphasize co-development with our customers and maintaining a strong innovation pipeline.
Our global production and R&D footprint is strategically based on local customer requirements and proximity, allowing us to better serve our clients worldwide.
Furthermore, we are dedicated to fulfilling our customers' sustainability ambitions by prioritizing responsible sourcing and maintaining a low carbon footprint.
Innovation
Our innovation strategy for battery materials focuses on three key areas. Firstly, we prioritize the development of high-performance Cathode Active Materials (CAM) for Lithium ion Battery (LiB) technologies. This enables customers to optimize their battery cells in terms of cost, stability, sustainability, and safety.
Secondly, we invest in R&D to explore CAM and process solutions that have the potential to revolutionize the battery industry. This includes researching CAM for solid-state batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and innovative materials that minimize the use of costly and scarce materials such as nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co).
Lastly, we are committed to developing advanced solutions for the recycling of Lithium ion Batteries (LiB). This not only enhances sustainability but also improves long-term raw material security.
By having a global R&D setup, we collaborate with customers across different regions, maintain proximity to production plants, and foster partnerships with leading academic and technological institutions worldwide.
Global footprint
We are continuing to develop our global footprint, focusing on customer proximity, enhancing our product portfolio, and securing sustainable raw materials supply.
As a strong player in the global battery materials market we operate production plants, pilot plants and R&D application technology centers in all regions.
